The CFD term is used for Computational Fluid Dynamics.

CFD includes the techniques used to solve the exact fluid dynamics equations by computer way. This technique allows so to avoid  imprecisions due to some simplifications or calculation hypothesis.

The application fields are particularly deep: internal flows, aeronautic, thermal applications, heat and climatisation field, environment, combustion, ...

Development of dedicated calculation software allows to increase the application domain of flow calculations. More over, the calculations capabilities of actual computer systems allow to treat an important number of different kind of geometries.
